Boobs Cake

What defines a stag party? Strippers, booze, hangovers, men turning into boys for a night..
..Actually the last one is also applicable to their daily life. Hehe.

A friend commissioned me to make a bachelor party cake for his friend. Since the groom-to-be is the baik2 type, strippers and booze were out of the question. The bachelor party was gonna be as subdued and erm, decent as a sit-down dinner party, so I thought, why not spice it up with a "bachelor party" cake??

Brain churning out ideas. Whatsapped friend for approval. He loved it.

Boobs cake project, lessago!

With a few mental sketches, I set out to work on Thursday night. The party was on Saturday, so I allowed myself 3 days to prepare everything. There were so many firsts for me, first time making fondant, first time making proper dome-shaped cake..I was nervous but excited as well.

The cakes were hot fudge chocolate cake, baked in a round jelly mould. I wanted a Double D cup size, so was very pleased when the cakes came out moist, fluffy, and most importantly, huge and well-proportioned. Hehe.

Thursday night done. Friday evening, straight from work, I started on my marshmallow fondant. This was my biggest worry. I had no idea how it would  turn out, what if I melted the marshmallow wrongly? What if my fondant turned out hard and totally inedible? But as I found out, MMF was not as scary as I thought. Phew. I managed to knead it smoothly. Although lemme tell you, kneading fondant was HARD WORK. I could not move my fingers and had sore arms for 3 days after. Such a noob. T__T

My fondant after kneading for dunno how long (I stopped looking at the clock after 30 mins). It was so smooth and pliable though! Like an edible play-doh =p

Now, the hard part was done. Saturday afternoon, I set out to assemble the cakes. I covered the cakes, frozen since Thursday, with dark chocolate ganache, and let it chill while I rolled and cut out my fondant. Now, I've read that you're not supposed to cover chilled cakes with fondant, for fear of creating air bubbles that would distort the fondant, but I think it's easier since the ganache is nice and firm this way, and the fondant sticks better. I didn't have any problems with air bubbles whatsoever, so I was happy :)

Okay this is where my confession comes in. My initial plan was to make "naked" boobies, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to cover the seams on the fondant, so what did I do? I made the boobs a bra of course! Haha. There was more fondant kneading, and finally I got the bra I wanted. A little decorations, and a few hours later, my boobs cake was done!

I brushed the fondant with brown edible paint to make it more life-like, and also brushed some water on to make them glisten =p

Crude caption, but hey, what do you expect from a stag party cake??

 Phew. I quite liked how it turned out, especially with all the impromptu decorations. My friend picked it up and when he saw it, he was like "Omg this is awesome!" Later he showed me a video of the friend's reaction when he saw the cake, and a few pictures I shall not describe here hehe. I was glad they loved it, and they all said the cake was delicious too! ;)
